As noted on our product page, SmartCocoon devices, like most IoT products, require access to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network during setup. If your router broadcasts both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks under the same Wi-Fi name (SSID), the device should connect without any issues. However, if your router is configured to broadcast only a 5 GHz network and the 2.4 GHz network is disabled, the device will not be able to connect.
There are two ways to resolve this:
Enable the 2.4 GHz network on your Wi-Fi router, if your router supports it. (Recommended)
Use the device without Wi-Fi or app connectivity.
Even without connecting to the SmartCocoon app, the device can still operate at a basic level. Once the initial calibration is complete, its internal algorithms allow it to synchronize with your HVAC system and automatically boost airflow to the problem room.
However, connecting the device to the app unlocks additional features, including:
Viewing estimated room temperature
Viewing the room temperature and humidity (Only available with SmartCocoon external sensor)
Adjusting the desired room temperature
Changing the fan speed (RPM)
Creating schedules
Accessing other smart features and settings
For the best experience and full functionality, we recommend connecting the device to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network whenever possible.
