Since you have a Nest, we recommend using Eco mode, this is the best way to use SmartCocoon with a Nest! In this mode, the fan follows your Nest's signals and turns on and off based on whether your HVAC system is running. You can also use the scheduling feature to customize your fan speed throughout the day.

To understand why you are seeing different temperatures in the app, it helps to know how our sensors work. SmartCocoon has an internal sensor built into the fan, which sits inside the vent at floor level. Because it is placed in the ductwork, it can only provide an estimated room temperature. This estimate can be quite close to the actual room temperature, but if your HVAC cycles frequently, the airflow inside the ductwork affects the reading and makes it harder to get an accurate number.

Please keep in mind that your Nest shows the temperature on the main floor, not in each individual room, unless you have a Nest sensor installed in that room. If you don't have a Nest sensor, your Nest thermostat is showing the temperature on the main floor, while our fan is showing an estimated temperature in the room, which explains the difference you're seeing!

If you want accurate, room-level temperature readings and more control, our external temperature and humidity sensor is designed for exactly that. You install it on the wall in the room, and it measures the actual temperature in the middle of the room where you spend most of your time, which is the most accurate representation of comfort since temperature at floor and ceiling level can vary quite a bit as hot air rises.

With it, you also unlock:

- Auto mode, where the fan turns on and off based on the real room temperature.
- Accurate humidity readings for the room.
- Humidex, so you can see how the room actually feels.
- Humidity alerts in the app when levels are too low or too high, which is very helpful if you live in a climate with humid summers and dry winters.

Think of it this way: your Nest manages the temperature of your home overall, our internal sensor gives you a rough idea of what is happening in your room, and our external sensor gives you precise control over each individual room. You can learn more about our external sensor here.

We're also attaching a comparison chart that outlines all the features available with and without our external sensor, so you have all the information you need.
